The president of the Commonwealth, Luis Angel Fernandez, stressed the possibility of promoting the charms of the Campo de Gibraltar. “The whole region is going to overturn and will be a worthy stage for this event. We will show our tourist potential and the hospitality of our neighbors in a unique location. I want to express my sincere gratitude for your choice for these European games,” he said.

The mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, also expressed his gratitude for the choice of the region to hold this meeting. “We will be able to offer a positive image of the region. It is a great moment to talk about the positive aspects of the Campo de Gibraltar and for the participants to come back from here as the great ambassadors of the region”, he explained.

The president of the federation that organizes the games, José Carlos Baquero, recalled that the first edition took place in Pontevedra, “where at that time there was a situation similar to the one here and many of the participants have returned to the city.
