The President of the Parliament, María José González Revuelta, received Roberto Veiga, an athlete from Santander who won 10 medals (5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze) at the European Games for Policemen and Firemen in Torrevieja 2023. Roberto Veiga, 32 years old, competed in several swimming disciplines and in rescue and lifeguarding. ‘I have been champion of Spain and Europe in this modality, not only at police and firefighter level, but also in general sports competitions,’ said Veiga.
In 2024, the athlete will take part again in the European Games to be held in Braga (Portugal), where he will compete again from 11 to 15 October in swimming, rescue and lifeguarding, and in a third modality: open water. Although the latter is not her speciality, she is confident that her special preparation this year will allow her to win a medal.
