The mayor of Ourense welcomed the local firefighters and police officers who competed in Vigo

A firefighter from Ourense, Rubén González Costas, returned from the Games with three gold medals and one silver. The mayor of Ourense, Gonzalo Pérez Jácome, welcomed him in the council chamber alongside the other medallists from the Ourense Local Police and Fire Service.

González Costas won individual gold in the Ultimate Firefighter event and added two further golds in the Stair Race – in the individual and pairs categories – as well as a silver in the Stair Race whilst wearing full PPE.

In athletics, local police officer José Antonio Fernández Rodríguez won silver in the 100- and 200-metre sprints, as well as a bronze in the long jump. His colleague Germán Quiroga Álvarez took gold in the 5-kilometre race walk.

In cycling, Lorenzo Ferreiro Núñez won bronze and Sabela Ferreiro Iglesias won gold, each in their respective categories.
