Police officer Roberto Veiga triumphs with 23 medals

The port police officer stationed in Alcúdia returns to Mallorca having far exceeded that target: he has won 23 new medals, of which 18 are gold, two are silver and three are bronze.

The 34-year-old swimmer from Cantabria has thus delivered one of the most outstanding performances of his career at the European Police and Firefighters Games, which are being held in Vigo from 9 to 18 October and bring together professionals from police, security, emergency and rescue services from numerous countries.

Veiga competed in two different disciplines – freestyle swimming and lifesaving – demonstrating his ability to adapt to very different events whilst maintaining a high competitive standard over four consecutive days.
