Local police officer Rubén Colchero is representing Calatayud at the Games

This is the second time this native of Calatayud has competed in this event, which attracts over 3,000 participants.

He competed in 2024 and returned from Braga with three medals – gold, silver and bronze – in the duathlon, triathlon and half-marathon.

Colchero is entered in seven disciplines. On Saturday morning he will compete in the 1,500-metre sprint on the track and on Sunday in the road cycling race. On Monday the 12th, he will compete in the cycling time trial uphill, and the following day he will get back on his bike for the individual time trial. Without a moment’s rest, on Thursday Colchero will compete as a duathlete in the sprint event, and on Friday he will run in the 5K night-time city run. His participation will conclude on Saturday the 17th with the trail run.

The athlete was welcomed by the city’s mayor and was accompanied by the deputy chief inspector of the Local Police, Alfredo Langa, before setting off on his journey.
