The Vigo Port Police welcomes its athletes, winners of numerous medals

The chairman of the Vigo Port Authority, Carlos Botana, welcomed the award-winning officers to convey the institution’s official congratulations.

The Port Police delegation racked up medals and certificates in demanding disciplines such as mountain running, track and field, road running and indoor rowing. Among the athletes, Alberto Bastos stood out, securing a hat-trick of successes by winning the gold medal in the gruelling Ultra Trail event, adding two silver medals in the 5,000-metre track and cross-country events, and finishing fifth in the 5,000-metre night race alongside an eighth-place finish in the Half Marathon. In the same Ultra Trail event, Isabel González shone in her own right, winning gold medals in both the veterans’ category and the team event, despite sustaining an injury with just one and a half kilometres to go before the finish line.
